Where the numbers come from

Flap opening sizes are PetSafe's own published chart — the smallest usable, open space across their dog door styles at each size. If your dog is between sizes on either dimension, size up: a door that's slightly large is a minor style issue; one that's too small doesn't work at all. Remember to allow for growth if your dog is still young.
